Chopr takes a recipe you already have and turns it into one your Thermomix® can guide you through, then puts it in your own Cookidoo® account. There are three ways to use it: the website, the browser add-on that does the sending, and the chopr app on your phone. These terms cover all three. It is free and in early testing, and signing in to Chopr means you accept what is below.

Check the recipe before you cook it

You are responsible for what you cook. Your Thermomix® holds boiling liquid and a fast blade, and the instructions and safety warnings that came with it always come first: where a Chopr recipe and your machine’s own manual disagree, the manual is right.

Who you are agreeing with

Chopr is made and run by one person. There is no company behind it. When these terms say “we” or “us”, that is who they mean:

Write about these terms, about your data, about a recipe that converted badly, or about anything else. Email is much the fastest: it is one person here, the phone is a United States number, and Chopr has readers across a lot of time zones.

Chopr is an independent project. It is not made, endorsed, or supported by Vorwerk. Thermomix® and Cookidoo® are trademarks of Vorwerk. You need your own Cookidoo® account to use the sending feature, and your use of Cookidoo® is governed by their terms, not ours. Sending happens inside a browser that you are signed in to, the add-on in your own browser on a computer, or the app’s own browser window on a phone, so what Chopr does there, it does as you.

Your account

• You need to be 16 or older, unless the country you live in sets a lower age (several in Europe set 13, 14 or 15) in which case that one applies. Under it, a parent or guardian has to agree on your behalf.
• Chopr converts one of your own recipes free. Beyond that it is a paid subscription, and the price, what it includes and the renewal terms are shown on the screen where you pay, before you pay. We may change the number of conversions allowed in a day as we work out what things cost.
• Your account is yours alone. Keep your sign-in to yourself, and tell us if you think somebody else has got into it.
• You sign in with Google, so Google’s own terms cover that part. We only ever ask them for your name, email address and profile picture.

What you may put into it

Convert recipes you wrote, own, or are otherwise allowed to use. Please do not:

• upload, photograph, or link to material you have no right to reproduce
• run automated scripts against Chopr, or try to get around the usage limits
• use Chopr to break the law, or to break Cookidoo’s own terms
• copy Chopr’s own code or resell the service as your own. (This is not meant to stop you studying how it works, or writing something of your own that talks to it, where the law gives you a right to do that, such as the right to reverse-engineer for interoperability under EU law, nothing here takes it away.)

A recipe you convert for yourself, from a book you own or a page you found, is ordinary private use. Converting somebody else’s collection wholesale, or republishing what comes out, is not, and it is not what Chopr is for.

Your recipes are yours

We do not claim any ownership of what you put in or what comes out. We keep a copy of the converted recipe so that you can find it again on your own shelf: private to you, deletable at any time, and gone with your account if you close it. What exactly is kept, and what is not, is set out on the privacy page.

We need your permission to do the obvious mechanical things with it: send it to the AI service to be converted, store it so the shelf works, and hand it to Cookidoo® when you press send. That permission is only ever for running Chopr for you. We do not publish your recipes, show them to other people, sell them, or use them to train an AI model.

If Chopr were ever sold or handed to somebody else to run, your account and your recipes would go with it and these terms would go with them, and we would tell you before it happened, so that you could take your recipes out and close your account first if you would rather not.

If you believe something stored here infringes your copyright, email support@trychopr.com saying what it is and where, and we will take it down.

What it costs

Converting a recipe costs us real money, so chopr is a paid subscription. Your first recipe is free, so you can see it work on your own handwriting before you decide anything. After that, the price, what it includes and the renewal terms are shown on the screen where you pay. You will never be charged for anything without agreeing to it first, and nothing here turns into a paid subscription by itself.

If you are in the EU or the UK, you get the usual 14 days to change your mind and get your money back, the price and the renewal terms will be written on the screen where you pay, and cancelling will be as easy as subscribing was.

The app on your phone

The chopr app comes from Apple’s App Store, and Apple asks that a few things be said plainly about that. So:

• You get a personal licence to use the app on Apple devices that you own or control, on the terms Apple sets for anything from the App Store. It is not yours to sell, rent, or pass on.
• This agreement is between you and us. Apple is not part of it, and Apple is not responsible for the app or for anything in it. We are, at the name and address above.
• Support is ours, not Apple’s. If something is wrong with the app, email support@trychopr.com. Apple has no obligation to help you with it.
• If the app does not work as it should, you can tell Apple, and Apple will refund what you paid for it, which is nothing. Beyond that refund, Apple has no warranty obligation of any kind.
• Any claim about the app, whether that it caused harm, that it fell short of a law, or that it infringed somebody’s rights, is ours to answer, and we handle it at our own cost. Not Apple’s.
• You confirm you are not in a country under a United States embargo, and not on any United States list of prohibited or restricted parties.
• Apple and its subsidiaries may enforce these terms against you as a third party who benefits from them.
• You also have to keep to the terms of the other services involved: Cookidoo®, Google, and Apple each have their own.

Ending it

You can stop using Chopr whenever you like. You can delete any recipe from your shelf, and you can delete your account entirely yourself: in the app, with Delete account at the bottom of the You tab; on the website, from your name at the top of the page. It happens straight away. If you would rather, email support@trychopr.com and we will do it for you. Deleting the app from your phone does not delete your account, because your recipes live in your account rather than on the phone.

We may suspend or close an account that is being used to break these terms or to abuse the service. Unless the law stops us or the problem is serious enough that waiting would do harm, we will tell you first, say what the reason is, and give you a fair chance to put it right or to disagree. Write to support@trychopr.com and a person will read it. Either way you can ask for a copy of your recipes before they go.

If we are ever shutting Chopr down altogether, we will give as much notice as we reasonably can, so that you can copy out anything you want to keep.

It comes as it is

Chopr is provided as it is. It may be unavailable, it may produce a poor conversion, and Cookidoo® may change in ways that break the sending feature without notice. To the extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to what you have paid us, which is currently nothing.

There is a lot that the law does not allow to be limited, and none of it is limited here. Nothing in these terms affects our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by agreement where you live.

If you are in the EU or the UK

Consumer law where you live gives you rights that a terms page cannot sign away, and the section above does not try to. Specifically:

• Chopr being free does not make it exempt. Under EU and UK rules on digital content and services, providing your personal data counts as paying. So Chopr has to actually work as described, and if it does not, you can require us to fix it, and failing that you have the remedies the law gives you.
• Your statutory rights come first, wherever they conflict with anything written here.
• You can bring a case where you live, in your own country’s courts and in your own language. You are not required to come to New York.
• Your data rights are on the privacy page, including the right to a copy of what we hold, to have it corrected or deleted, and to complain to your national data protection authority.

We are not currently signed up to any alternative dispute resolution body. If you have a problem, email support@trychopr.com first: it is one person reading, and most things are quicker to fix than to argue about.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the law of the State of New York, in the United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.

If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the law where you live. Where your own country’s consumer law gives you something these terms do not, or protects something these terms try to limit, your own law wins, and you keep the right to go to your local courts. If one part of these terms turns out not to hold up, the rest still stands.

Changes

We may update these terms. Small corrections get a new date at the top. For a change that actually affects you, we will tell you by email or in the app at least 30 days before it takes effect, and say what is changing.

If you do not want to accept it, you can close your account before then and that is the end of it: no charge, no consequence, and you can take your recipes with you. Carrying on using Chopr after the date means you have accepted it. Questions to support@trychopr.com.
